This was a land of freedom, which gave the image that there was no anti-Semitism and Jews and any other minority could live with no fear of persecution. This, for the most part, is what North America was. There was very much the opportunity for jobs and raising families. The USA and Canada represented democracy and this made a great home for those who needed it.
