The Great Sphinx is an enormous monument made out of limestone that resembles the body of a lion and the head of a man. It was built by Egyptian slaves about forty hundred years ago during the reign of King Chephren. It is over two hundred forty feet long (almost the length of a football field) and sixty six feet high.

more than 80 billion dollars! Anything that can last for almost 5 thousand years and be so marvelous is something that we all should know about and if possible, see it in person. By studying ancient civilizations, we learn things that we can use today. For instance, think how much better our freeways and bridges would be if we used the pyramid cement instead of portland cement. They could be stronger and last a lot longer too.
