Chapeter 1: Angela’s Ashes begins with Frank McCourt, the author and main character, explaining his family’s roots. You learn that he is dirt poor and his dad moves from Ireland to New York and back again because of prohibition. I know it was but McCourt wrote it in a fashion where you could really believe him. The book showed the good, but mostly bad times in Ireland. It was vile at some points but that only added to the effect the novel had. He did not hold anything back which get a lot of respect from me. This really showed me how lucky I am as a person.
