Some pursued a strategy of passing suffrage acts in each state--nine western states adopted woman suffrage legislation by 1912. Others challenged male-only voting laws in the courts. Large numbers of middle-class women got together to fight for their rights in what was called The Women Rights Movement. Women went trough many obstacles to obtain the social and politician status they now hold.
